Besides a tramway, an LRT Metro is in the planning stages. A map of the system is here. There are several holes in the ground from a subway project which was cancelled in it's early stages in 1980 due to lack of funding. In early 2002, the first phase of the 2 line project was given a final go ahead.


The tram uses a tunnel under a hill in the center of the city. There is no station in the tunnel. Photo courtesy Harald A. Jahn
