Far from a subway but included here because of it's resemblence to light rail, the Tatra Electric Railway was built in 1913. The 35 km line consists of a 29 km main line from Štrbské Pleso to Poprad-Tatry, and a 6 km branch from Starého Smokovca to Tatranskej Lomnice. New rolling stock has been produced.
The area is also infested with various cable railways.
