Canberra
Light Rail planned

In 2004, the city council was debating whether an 11 km light rail line or a busway will be better for the city. I wonder if they know that busway is an anagram for subway.

It's been several years since we reviewed this page. What progress Canberra has made? As of 2013, light rail was still "on the agenda".
Then, in May 2016, Canberra took the leap and commited to the first 12 km of light rail, which is expected to open in 2018.
