This popular heritage tramway in Santos, near Sao Paulo, opened in September 2000. Santos is Brazil's main port.

Santos is also planning an 11 km light rail line, or VLT da Baixada.


The 16 km Intra-Metro once connected Santos with Sao Vicente but was closed in 199 due to deficits. Part of the route will comprise Santos' VLT.
