LRT planned, proposed monorail
A 14 km LRT is in the early planning stages. Funding for an environmental assessment of the line has been approved. The line is expected to eventually reach 30 km and connect Waterloo with Kitchener and eventually Cambridge.
The Grand River monorail is an alternative 60 km proposal.
