light rail (under construction)

A 56.7km light rail line is under construction in this second largest Finnish city. The original system plans called for 56.7 km including a 2.7 km subway with 4 stops.  Thirty-nine of the 56.7 km would run on existing rail tracks.  The current route and configuration appears to be unsure, despite the report of the beginning construction.

Once operating, it will be the world's northernmost urban transit system.
