Turku
light rail planned

Turku, Finland's third largest urban area, completed a study of a 43.1 km light rail system in May, 2002. Financing has not been obtained, but right of way is already being set aside. A decision is expected to be made in 2009.

Turku abandoned it's trams in 1972 and has warned other cities not to do so. To date, a tram corpse sits near where the tracks used to be, and is the closest thing the city has to a tramway museum.
