Finland Current Helsinki (Helsingfors) Planned Tampere Turku

Turku light rail planned Turku, Finland's third largest urban area, completed a study of a 42 km light rail system in May, 2002. Financing has not been obtained, but right of way is already being set aside. Turku abandoned it's trams in 1972 and has warned other cities not to do so. To date, a tram corpse sits near where the tracks used to be, and is the closest thing the city has to a tramway museum. Turku Transport official home page
