light rail planned
Turku, Finland's third largest urban area, completed a study of a 43.1 km light rail system in May, 2002. Financing h\was not been obtained, but right of way is already being set aside. A decision was expected to be made in 2009., but as of 2015 citizens are still arguing about wherher or not the system should be built
Turku abandoned it's trams in 1972 and has warned other cities not to do so. To date, a tram corpse sits near where the tracks used to be, and is the closest thing the city has to a tramway museum.
