Yellow Train Villefranche La Tour del Carol

Villefranche-La Tour de Carol
Light Railway (interurban)

According to the Wikipedia, this village on the Spanish border in the Pyrenees main claim to fame is that its the site of an international railway station. One of the lines is an electric interurban built in 1908 and now run by the French National Railways.  It is known as the Petit Train Jaun, or the Little Yellow Train. It has been nicknamed Canari and is a symbol of the region. The 63 km line connects the town with the village of Villefranche-de-Conflent, described on one web page as a medieval garrison town suffering from arrested development. Enroute is the station at Bolquere-Eyne, which is the highest railway station in France at 1593 meters above sea level.
