Bremen's tramway corporation (BSAG) runs 8 full lines. They are a combination of an old-fashioned streetcar and new lrt-tracks. The System has 123 stations and a total track length of 61 km. No tracks are in subway.

The first line (with horses) opened June 4, 1876. The first electric line operated in June 1890, It was the first line in Europe to have a trolley system.

On September 3rd, Bremen will open another extension. It will end at the university at will have a length of 3,5 km. In December yet another extension will open to Arsten with a length of 0,5 km. By
the end of 1998,  Bremen will have about 65 km of streetcar-tracks, over 8 km of that opened in 1998.

Bremen was the first city with 100% low-floor streetcars, it has now 78 of them plus 61 old ones from the 70's. It's unfortunate, that you cannot run these kind of trams because of the strict American laws.
