Dortmund's light rail subway consists of 4 light rail lines and two streetcars or trams. The total length covered is 57 km and 82 stations, of which over 20 km are in subway.  All trams, light rail and even S-Bahnen in the city center are underground, and by looking at the map you can see that Dortmund's subway stsem is quite extensive,

Monorail (H-Bahn)

Dortmund has three identical monorail lines: two totalling 3 km which
operates within the university, the second at the airport. You can catch the University H-Bahn by taking the S-Bahn Line 1 and getting off at the underground S1 station.

One of the S-Bahn lines not operated by Deutsche Bahn but by Regiobahn is the S28, a small Diesel-S-Bahn between Kaarst and Mettmann via Neuss and Düsseldorf. There are plans to extend it to Wuppertal.
