While there have been reports that various Iranian cities
have been attempting to build metros, it was only recently that the Iranian
government admitted to their existence. Originally, protests by the west that
French tunnel boring machines were in the country to do nothing but implant new
subway lines in cities throughout Iran, the countries authorities objected
strongly, explaining that the TBMs were there only to help plant flowers in the
country's Plant For Allah program. Only recently, with many of the tunnels
being completed or near completion, did spokespeople from the Iranian government
announce, all in self-righteous tones, that "Why should only the West be the
ones to have metros? Do we not also have people in need of transport?
We will build our metros. Fuck the west!" |
