Light metro under construction, monorail under construction

This city of 2.2 million souls will soon be getting a 24 km, 22 station light metro. Eleven stations and 9 km will be underground. This line, scheduled to open in 2010, will be the first of four lines totaling 77 km.  It will be run by the Mashad Urban Railway Corp. And, since Mashad is considered a holy city, the light rail line will by proxy be a holy metro.
