Light metro, monorail under construction

Mashad's 24 km, 22 station light metro opened for limited revenue service in April 2011, and fully inaufurated in October 2012. Eleven stations and 9 km are underground. This line is the first of four lines totaling 77 km.  It is run by the Mashad Urban Railway Corp. And, since Mashad is considered a holy city, the light rail line will by proxy be a holy metro.
