Light metro under construction
Shiraz has
just a little
over 1
million inhabitants. The metro began construction in 2001 and is still under
construction as of April 2010. While most call it a light rail line,
the majority of
the
line will be underground. Line one will consist of 21 stations and 22.4
km of track. Twenty of the 21 stations will be underground. Line 2 will
have eight underground stations and 2 stations above ground, while Line
3 will be 16 km with 4 km running underground. All three lines are currently under
construction.
