Tabriz Light metro under construction

Tabriz (1.2 mill. inh.) is the centre of north western Iran. An east-west metro line is under construction, passing underneath the historical quarters of the city. The first phase with 6 kms was planned to open at the end of the Iranian year (March 21 2006) but did not due to financial problems,  The sustem is predicted to carry 20 000 Passengers per hour in both directions.









Mercesez Benz rolling stock serves the construction workers on the Tabriz Metro.
