2001LRTA report
The first line of the three line Florentine tram network
will consist of 22 km of at-grade track.
Work began in 2004 on Line 1, 7.4 km connecting Santa Maria
Novella to Scandicci, including a new bridge over the Arno River. Completion of
the fline was in February 2010.
Line 2 will have 19 stops and 7.5 km, linking Peretola with Piazza Libertà.
Line 3 will be 4.5 km long will run from the Careggi hospital complex via
Rifredi and Statuto stations to Fortezza. An extension to Line 3 is planned with
two branches.
Work also began in 2007 on a
7 km railway tunnel with a large underground terminus.
