Sassari
planned LRT

A 6.8 km LRT was due to open in June 2002. As of August 2003, it is still a work in progress. A
recent article projects an opening date in 2004.

The metropolitana will link downtown with the railway station and use Ansaldo Breda's Serio trams. The line will be operated by Ferrovie della Sardegna, which runs the railways on the island of Sardinia. A feasibility study was conducted to review the  possibility of converting the 11 km Sassari-Sorso and the 30 km
Sassari-Alghero rail lines to light rail operation. The Sorso branch is currently in the process of conversion.
