The first 9.3km section, 15 station VAL subway will run from Porta Nuova station via Porta Susa station to Collegno. Opening day is expected to be in November 2005. Work will begin next year on a 3.9km extension south from Porta Nuova to Ligotto, followed a year later by a 12km section from Collegno via Rivoli to Rosta.

Turin Automated Underground


Light Rail

Turin's 179 km tramway network includes light rail lines 3 and 9. Line 4 is being upgraded to light rail, and an underground section crossing the city center will link line 1 of the new metro.

Italian State Railways (Trenitalia) is building the Passante, a 12 km commuter rail link from Stura to Lingotto with 7 km underground.
