Hamamatsu
interurban
This city between
Tokyo and Nagoya, sometimes referred to as the "Musical Capital of Japan".
In
1909, the 17.8 km Enshu Tetsudo opened for service. It was electrified in 1923.
Now more a private electric railway rather than a tramway, the street running
service on the line was converted to an elevated section in 1985.
There is also a second private railway known as the Tenryo-Hamanaka Tetsudo
which appears to be a diesel railway.
