Monorail
Hitachi's first line, with patents purchased from the original Alweg monorail, carries passengers 1.1 km from the main railway terminal to a temple and a local amusement park/primate zoo called the Rhein Monkey Park. Among monorail enthusiasts, this line is distinctive because it runs on a 9.7% grade. At one point, I understand it operates at grade inside a canyon. Like many rail lines in Japan, the monorail is run by Meitetsu.
