The Hokuriko Railway is a JR line that is neither subway nor tram, but one of the many private electric railways that criss-cross Japan. The railway, however, evolved from several electric trolley lines, and still strongly resembles a trolley line. There are currently two lines serving this region in Honsyu - Ishikawa, Asanogawa. The Komatsu line no longer exists.

The lines opened in 1918 and cover 22.7 km.
