Riga
tramway
Opened in
1882, Riga now supports an 8 line, 123 km system. A metro was in the
planning stages in the 1980's but was never built due to
public concerns about
possible
damage to historic buildings. Now, Riga
plans a light rail network,
starting with three lines. Trams have recently been refurbished by
Ganz
Transelektro of Hungary.
According to the official home page, Chernobyl combatants receive a
discount.
