Tijuana, located just below the last stop of the San Diego Trolley station at the border in San Ysidro, is planning it's own light rail trolley system. The first stage of the project would connect near the terminus of the San Diego trolley at the San Ysidro Port of Entry-Garita Puerta México and  extend 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) along the river zone to Boulevard José de San Martín. One source claims the line would be an extension of the San Diego trolley.

 In late 2009, we discovered a similar 19 km "high speed tram" which appears to actually be a busway using electric trolleybuses using tram-like vehicles. Opening day is expected in 2010 or 2011.
