Morocco
Casablanca
planned subway
A planned subway
for the Moroccan capital is still in limbo.
As of 1998, plans were
being tendered for the 11 km line with a large consortium of companies and
funded by Canada. It looked like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
According to Systra, which did the preliminary studies, on 10/13/98, the system is still planned but
construction has not yet begun. And,
according to this 2001 article, the project is not dead, it just smells funny.
To date, however, the only subway in Casablanca is a
pedestrian one.
Here's looking at you, Systra.
