The Czestochowa tramway is Poland's youngest tram system. It opened in 1959 and has one
10.5 km line which runs through the city center and into the suburbs interurban-style. Traveling most of it's route on it's own right of way, the line is more light rail than it is streetcar. In 2010, construction of a new 4.1 km tram line began. It is expected to open in 2012.
