![]() ![]() Gijón-Pravia interurban, metro under construction Gijón-Pravia is located on the Northern Spanish coast near Santander. It is home to a 64 km electric interurban which opened in 1909. The line is currently run by FEVE and is affectionately named F4. Gijon's 6.5 km metrotren is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2012. According to their project web site, it will be a stand alone metro, but the 6 station underground section will also be shared by FEVE and RENFE trains. This may mean that the tramway, which uses these tracks, will become an extension of the subway. In 2007, a 2.6 km tunnel extension was added to the project. ![]() Metrotren video simulation Project description Please help to support us by visiting our sponsors |
