Malmo
heritage tramway
Trams were murdered in Malmo in
1973. The city runs a small
heritage tramway that serves the technical museum. The trams run
along city streets to the Malmo library. Far from part of Malmo's
original routes, it open in 1987.
Malmo is also the location of
Sweden's largest infrastructure project to
date - the 8 km Citytunnel, scheduled to open this year along with
three new underground stations. The tunnel will serve regional rail
lines, including those coming in from nearby Copenhagen. No trams or
light rails have been built into the plan, and calls for a light rail
system are still in the pipedream phase.
