Honorable Mention Metro du Sahel

Considered commuter rail by most standards, Souza's 70 km Metro de Souza is commonly known as the Metro du Sahel. The Metro connects the city of Souza (Sousse) with Monastir and Mahdia. It's first section opened in 1984. The railway uses former Hungarian EMUs, but in 2007 Tunisian Railways ordered a small number of independent running metro cars. It is one of the few "commuter metros" in Africa to have iy's own Facebook page. Apparently. the Metro du Sahel is married but interested in making new friends.
