Isle of Wight
Commuter Tube

BS thinks this is an Isle of Wight metro. Do you think they're wight?

It seems that this is not a subway, but the 8.5 mile electric line does use unwanted London tube cars due to the narrow tunnels and bridges. And though there are no stations in tunnel, I understand the above tunnel runs through town and is pretty good sized. Another unusual feature of the line is its terminus at the end of a pier.

There is currently a proposal called Wight Rail, which includes the above rail stretch.
Is the Isle of Wight on the Wight Track? (from LRTA web site, May 1998)

Another plan calls for extending the line under  the sea into Portsmouth, where it would integrate with Portsmouths light rail system under construction.
