The Galveston Trolley

Galveston Tourism page with a brief description and picture of the trolley.

These images were taken in July, 1999. The trolley was more of a tourist
attraction than an actual mode of transportation, though I did see several
people using it for transit. The line runs between Galveston's downtown
historical district, "The Strand", and the beach, "Seawall".  It's operating
authority is Island Transit. At this time only one of four cars is operating.

In 1999, the trolley was closed so the City of Galveston could replace the
track. In 2005, the trolley was expanded to the University of Texas Medical
Center campus, bringing the new total trackage to 6 miles.
