Salt Lake City
Light Rail, streetcar under constuction
Known locally as TRAX and run by the Utah Transit Authority, the first line of the now 44.8 mile system opened in 1999. Three lines serve the salt Lake City area, including one line to the airport. The system is mostly street running with some private right of way.

Criticised by some for their use of multiple cars, the UTA defended their right to peacefully run their transit agency without the criticism of other authorities.
Under construction is Salt Lake City's 2.7 mile Sugarhouse Streetcar line. The system will use Siemens 570 modern streetcars, and has a planned opening of December 2013.
