Existing or Under Construction
Streetcars returned to Tacoma in August, 2003. The 1.6 mile "Tacoma Link" serves six stops throughout the city's central business distict using modern low floor trams. While there are several plans to extend the streetcar, nothing conclusive has yet emerged.
The streetcar is free to ride and is operated by Seattle's sound Transit.
There are also efforts by the Streetcar Stakeholders Grou to restore the city's original streetcar network which was removed circa 1938. If implemeted, the streetcars would be seperate from the existing Tacoma Link line.
