The first line of a planned four line system partially opened in
November, 2006. The opened section is 6.2 k long, of which
4.7 km are underground. There are 7 stations. Line one is
expected to be completed in 2010, with another 4.5 km in length. Two
additional lines are also currently under construction, with a fourth
in the planning stages. Like the Caracas metro, Lines 2 and 3 are
actually sections of Line 1 but are identified as two seperate lines.
Once complete, they will form one continuous line and will become parft
of Line 1, losing their identity and becoming one with the whole. This
is known as the needs of the one outweighing the needs of the many.
Valencia metro's coaches may seem a bit familiar. If so, that may
because they are the popular Siemens rolling stock used for many
cities, such as St. Louis' Metrolink service.
